That time when,
You have an idea in your mind.
You know it’s beautiful.
So you gather your tools.
Start materializing the idea.
As it takes form, you notice something.
Yet you keep going, hoping to salvage the piece.
However, still something feels off.
You put down your tools,
And take a good look at your creation.
Something is missing.
Something is too much.
You think it’s not beautiful.
It doesn’t reflect the idea that’s in your mind.
It feels frustrating.
But wait! Let’s not judge too soon.
Take a break and leave it.
Later, come back to it.
With fresh eyes, comes a new perspective.
You gaze at your creation once again.
Something comes to light.
You start detaching from the perfect idea.
Now you say “It’s not that bad.”
You admire it as it is.
This too, is beautiful!

This is my experience with these artworks.
At first, I feel frustrated looking at them,
because they are not what I envisioned.
But now, these pieces bring me joy.
I like some of them as a whole.
While others, I admire the specific details.
I appreciate how the imperfections
in color, texture, and linework,
make them uniquely beautiful!
I am amazed at how they turned out.
As artists and creatives, I know you can relate to this experience. Often, we struggle to create exactly what we have envisioned in our minds. However, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. A piece of art, even if flawed, is still of value, because it’s one step forward to what we want to achieve. Even if the final product isn’t what we initially wanted, there may be aspects of it that inspire new ideas and discoveries for future projects. Also, sometimes we have to let go of perfectionism to see the beauty at hand. Most importantly, the act of creating is the reward itself!
